Statistics

The town of Spalding is located in the Cedar River Valley of northeast Greeley County in Central Nebraska.   The 1997 population was estimated at 592.   It is located 41^o 41.20’N longitude and 98^o 21.47’W latitude.   The elevation is 1878 ft.

Utilities

Natural gas is provided through KN Energy pipelines and distributed to local homeowners, business, and farms.   Gas may be purchased through several agencies that will solicit your business and home during the summer.   The Village endorses and supports  the PACE program, but you have the option of subscribing to PACE, KN Energy, or other suppliers of natural gas.

Electricity is produced in part by the Spalding Power Plant.   A portion of it is produced by water flowing through a water wheel, part of it is produced by diesel generators, and a portion is purchased from Cornhusker Public Power District, NPPD, and WAPA.   By having the ability to produce electricity though our own facility, the town has been able to negotiate very favorable rates for electricity.

Village Board

The village board of trustees holds it regular monthly meeting on the first Tuesday of each month.   Members of the board are Mayor Jim Kleffner, Ed Carlin, Bob Socha, Marilynn Thober, & Bob Molt.

City office:  497-2416  Electricity, water, sewer, and garbage are billed through the village on the first of the month.   Located in the Auditorium 211 E. St. Joseph.
